Graduating

"Excited & scared at the same time."

Do you guys remember growing up and being super excited to graduate and get out of school? Because I do, but now I'm having mixed emotions about it. Don't get me wrong, I am still really excited! It's going to be fun to walk up on the stage, get your diploma and just look at all of your friends and peers who you have shared this experience and all of the memories with. To also see how proud all of your family members and all of the people who have supported you will be. Although, I'll be scared as well because I'll be thinking about how we aren't going to have to go to school everyday, we won't have an excuse to see the same people, and we will have to experience the most change we have encountered, probably ever. It'll be bitter-sweet. That's why chosing those six words seemed right to me.
I made the picture black and white because it made the picture look better and made it more emotional/dramatic. I made the words fade away just a little bit becasue I didn't want them to stand out too much. I didn't use an exclamation mark because I didn't want it to sound like I was super excited .

Dad

"Meeting you; something I always wanted."

This is a picture of my dad & I. I think by the words you can tell that I haven't known him forever, unfortunately. I actually just met him over a year ago during my grade 11 summer vacation, and as cheesy as it sounds(trust me, I know it does), it was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. Ever since I could remember, meeting my dad was something I always knew I wanted, which is why I chose those words.
I thought that font fit with the picture better than any other one because the more bolded fonts stood out too much, and in a way it was kind of overwhelming for the viewer. Black was chosen because it stood out enough to be readable and it gets the message across.

Fun

"There's nothing wrong with being goofy."

I chose this picture because when I think of the word goofy, my friend Ethan comes to mind! Anyone that knows Ethan, which I think most people do, knows this is true. He's so outgoing and funny it's awesome. Which is why I chose to say how nothing is wrong with that, becasue there isn't! I think everyone should be goofy and funny becasue it just makes life and everything you do, more fun!
Goofy is bolded and bigger than the rest of the words since that one is the most important because that is what this memoir represents. It is also easy to relate "goofy" and the picture together right away. A period is used because I wanted it to sound like a statement.

Love

"Not everything can or will last"

This memoir just represents everything in life, not just about love. No matter how much you love something and want it to last, there's no way it can forever. Which brings the infinity sign into play. I didn't use any puncuation becasue to me, the infinity sign is a word meaning 'forever' and that finishes off the sentence for me. I put the picture in black and white to make the picture feel more older and to give it more on an impression on the viewer. That's why I used that font as well, it looks like an older type of writing. Black was used because it fits it, and is suddle, any other colour would have been too bright, and it would have felt out of place.

Friendship

"Let the good times keep rolling!"

These pictures go perfectly with this collage because it shows how the 3 of us are having a good time, like we always do. What it doesn't show is how our other best friend, Jordan, is taking the pictures and he is also making us laugh by just being him. The words just mean that we've had plenty of fun times and that they will(I hope) continue!
I used an exclamation mark rather than a period because I wanted to express my excitement and happiness with saying those six words. I thought the font went well with it because I found it fun since it was handwriting and loopy.

Life

"Everything has an impact of you."

No matter what you do in life, or what happens to you, it will have some kind of impact on you. I chose to use this picture of a cat because even something as little as having a pet cat(even though it's not even a little cat) can have a big impact on you. Even though this isn't my cat, whenever I see him, he just brings a smile to my face and reminds me of funny stories that I have about him.
I really like this font because I think it is super interesting/creative and it draws your eye into it. I didn't use black as a colour because that would have just blended in, and you wouldn't have been able to see white, so I chose pink because it stands out and adds colour to the picture. I put the writing towards the top right corner more because it looks like the cat is looking up at the writing which I think looks cool.

Siblings

"Nothing like a brother-sister relationship!"

I don't think there are any other better words to describe this picture. It shows how goofy my brother & I have been together from the start, and still continue to be. In this picture it may show how I love my brother(which I do) but it doesn't show how some days(most days) he can be my worst enemy, and I don't want anything to do with him, but I'm sure that feeling is mutual though.
I chose that colour because that was the easiest to read and the font because to me it looks like little kid writing and it just makes me think of when we were little.

Family

"Stick together, through thick and thin"

I chose these words because that is exactly what my family has done. When times have gotten hard we haven't given up on each other, we have always stuck through it, and have been there for one another and supported each others decisions made and will continue to do so. So why not have a picture of us as a family when we're all happy and smiling? Especially when we've done all of this within the past 13 months we have known eachother, so that has to mean and count for something.
I didn't do any editing on the picture itself, I left it how it was taken because I think the message of the picture is clear and it doesn't need any emphasis. I chose the font and the font colour because that is something that appealed to me, and it stands out and I think it fits with the picture well.

Reading Survey

In general, how do you feel about reading?

In general, I really do like reading, if I find the right book for me, that is. By the "right book" I mean when you just can't stop reading and don't want to do anything else but read. That's what I look forward too when reading and picking out books. I used to love reading a lot more when I was younger because it feels like I had more patience when reading and could read a book even if I wasn't too interested in it. I don't like being forced to read a book when I'm not too interested in it.

How do you decide which books you will read?

When I was younger I used to base what books I read on the way the cover appealed to me. It was simple; if the cover had a fun design or cool pictures, I would instantly go to it and give it a shot, but if I found the cover plain and boring, I wouldn't even think twice about it.
Now when I walk into a library or book store I go to a genre that I like, (which used to be just teen fiction but I've been finding myself to be less interested in them and have more of an open mind to other genres), so I just go to any book now, read the back and flip through the pages a bit. The only way I'll buy a book or check one out at the library is if I absolutely love it while reading it and don't want to put it down because I usually have trouble getting into books and have a hard time finishing them.

What kind of books do you like to read? Why do you enjoy them?

I really enjoy mystery, girly, romance and furturistic books. I like those ones because with mystery I love when there's suspense and even with just reading when you're on the edge of your seat and it gets so intense. With girly books I like having things to relate to and reading about high school drama. Romance books I love reading because I find them so adorable and I am a sucker for a love story. I especially love it when there's a movie to go with the book because then it just adds to the story and makes it come to life. I would probably have to say that fururistic books are my favourite or even post-apocalyptic books because I like reading about topics and things that we don't have right now in our life and imagining what life could be like.

Techno "Do-You"

I have an iPhone 4 with internet access. With it just being an iPhone 4 it does cause me some difficulty when using it since it is an older generation but I get done what I need to... most of the time. I do have a laptop at home, which I am using right now and is a bit older like my phone as well, and I guess I could bring it to school, but I rather wouldn't just because it seems like it would be too much of a hassle. I don't have an e-reader because I would rather just have an actual book to read right infront of me, especially because I start to feel sick after looking at electronics for a while. I have a personal Twitter account that I constantly used a few months ago, but got busy with other things, so I couldn't keep up with posts, but I am starting to use a bit more now. I like going on it to see the other funny things people post, and seeing the opinions they have. This is the first blog I've ever had, and I actually quite enjoy it! I'm not too sure on what different kinds of things to post, but seeing other students blogs have really given me some great ideas.

My night was just made!

I was watching the news with my grandma tonight, & I saw this appear on the television and I just knew I was going to have to look it up after, and was it ever worth it! It had me laughing the entire time and I was just happy to see all of the residents at the Waverley Mansion smiling and laughing as well! They also have another video to the song "Call Me Maybe" and if you're interested in watching it, here is the link: http://youtu.be/Qf0k8sACrTU Enjoy!

Favourite Quote of the Week

" Move on.  It is just a chapter in the past, but don't close the book - just turn the page."
- Unknown

I really like this quote because it just shows how you should never give up, you can just move on, leave the past behind and tomorrow will be a new day.

I was shown this in Photography the other day

I dont know what to think about it. It's pretty amusing to watch, and seeing the old guy during the "chorus" gets me everytime. What does everyone else think?
